This week began with the concrete pour of the foundation walls. Monday morning was spent prepping the forms and setting the embeds in time for the concrete trucks, which were scheduled for the afternoon. The pour went well, despite a brief intermission for a rain, lightening, and thunder show, and Tuesday morning the forms were stripped from the walls. The concrete crew was there Wednesday putting the finishing touches on the walls – cleaning them up, packing the forms – and we also received our first lumber delivery which will see the framing crew through the next week. Today, the foundation damp-proofing is being applied to the foundation walls, and the mason is onsite installing concrete blocks on the footers. These blocks will support the exterior stone around the chimney area. Tomorrow, the excavator will be back on site to backfill the foundation. He will continue working through the beginning of next week, prepping the crawlspace and the garage slab so the framing crew can continue their work.
